FINDLAY, Ohio - Kara Heitmeyer recorded 23 kills Friday night to lead the University of Findlay volleyball team past Northern Kentucky University, 30-24, 30-20, 26-30, 30-23.
Erin Puthoff added 19 kills and a .389 hitting percentage as the Oilers picked up the regional victory. NKU (1-5) defeated Northwood (Mich.) University by a 3-1 score earlier on Friday, but the Norse hit just .126 against Findlay and lost the blocking battle by a 29-4 margin.
Kristin Koralewski picked up her second double-double of the day with 17 kills and 17 digs to lead NKU. Cammi Welter added 16 kills and 15 digs, while freshman setter Andrea Lanham finished with 47 assists and three service aces.
Nicole Salisbury had 11 kills and 14 digs for NKU, which will meet Lake Superior State University and Hillsdale College on Saturday in the final two matches of the two-day tournament.
