NKU DEFEATS NORTHWOOD, 3-1

Norse win important regional match for first victory

FINDLAY, Ohio - Kristin Koralewski and Cammi Welter each recorded double-doubles Friday as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Northwood (Mich.) University, 30-20, 30-22, 32-34, 30-20.

Koralewski finished with 14 kills and 18 digs, and Welter added 14 kills and 15 digs. NKU collected 15 service aces and took advantage of 17 service errors by Northwood (2-3).

Freshman setter Andrea Lanham finished with 35 assists and 12 digs for the Norse, who improved to 1-4. Maggie Pugh added eight kills and a .533 hitting percentage for NKU, which will meet four squads from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference this weekend at this tournament.

A year ago, the Norse dropped a 3-0 decision to Northwood at Allendale, Mich.

NKU later plays the University of Findlay at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Norse will meet Lake Superior State University (3 p.m.) and Hillsdale College (5:30 p.m.).

The win was the 694th in the history of NKU volleyball.
