HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team will travel to Findlay, Ohio, this weekend to meet four squads from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. NKU plays Northwood (Mich.) University at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by a match against the University of Findlay at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Norse will meet Lake Superior State University (3 p.m.) and Hillsdale College (5:30 p.m.). NKU is 0-4 after dropping four matches at the University of North Florida Labor Day Classic last weekend. The Norse lost three matches to nationally ranked teams - North Florida, Tampa and Barry (Fla.) - in that tournament. Northwood is currently 2-2, while Findlay is 3-2. A year ago, NKU defeated Findlay on the road and lost to Northwood on a neutral floor at Allendale, Mich. Senior right-side hitter Cammi Welter leads NKU with 60 kills and eight total blocks. Welter is now No. 8 on the all-time NKU list with 1,092 career kills. Junior outside hitter Kristin Koralewski is No. 2 on the team with 42 kills, and she is also No. 2 in hitting percentage at .327. Koralewski leads NKU with eight service aces. Freshman setter Andrea Lanham recorded 142 assists (10.92 apg) in Florida, and she leads the team in hitting percentage at .474. Lanham is the first freshman to start at setter for the Norse since 1995, when Molly Donovan won the job and later was named the GLVC Freshman of the Year. Senior outside hitter Nicole Salisbury leads the team with 47 digs, and she also has 31 kills. Junior libero Amber Timmons has recorded 46 digs. |
