Koralewski finishes with 22 kills, 21 digs as NKU defeats Lewis |

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Kristin Koralewski recorded 22 kills, 21 digs and a .488 hitting percentage Saturday as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Lewis University, 30-21, 30-22, 30-28, at the Neil Carey Arena. Koralewski, a junior outside hitter, collected the 22 kills in 41 attempts and had just two errors. She also finished with three blocks for NKU, which has won 11 of its last 12 matches against Lewis on the Flyers home floor. Nicole Salisbury added 14 kills and a .412 hitting percentage as NKU improved to 12-6 overall, 5-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse hit .348 as a team and handed Lewis (9-5 overall, 2-1 GLVC) its first conference loss of the season. NKU hit .327 in the opening game to take a 30-21 win, and the Norse topped that percentage during the second game by hitting .415 and taking a 30-22 decision. NKU built a 17-12 lead in the third game, but Lewis rallied with a 9-4 run to tie the score at 21-21. Cammi Welter eventually gave NKU a 29-28 lead with a kill, and Lynne Fischesser ended the match with a service ace for the Norse. Welter added 10 kills, 11 digs and four service aces for NKU, while setter Marcela Cunha - filling in for injured starter Andrea Lanham - recorded 50 assists, 10 digs and four kills. Katie Gilman led Lewis with 16 kills and 15 digs. NKU will play host to Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville at 7 p.m. Friday in Regents Hall. The Norse will also meet the University of Missouri-St. Louis at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
