HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Kristin Koralewski and Nicole Salisbury combined for 24 kills and 24 digs Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, 30-28, 30-21, 30-23, in Regents Hall. Koralewski and Salisbury each finished with 12 kills for NKU, which improved to 19-10 overall, 10-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Koralewski, who also hit .290 on Saturday, added 15 digs to notch her 20th double-double of the season. Cammi Welter collected 14 kills and four blocks for the Norse, who improved to 18-0 all-time against Wisconsin-Parkside. Maggie Pugh finished with seven kills, a .538 hitting percentage and six blocks for NKU. Wisconsin-Parkside (13-11 overall, 5-5 GLVC) held a 28-27 lead in the opening game, but NKUs Kaliana Kalache tied the score at 28-28 by slamming down a kill. Salisbury then converted two straight attack attempts to give NKU a 30-28 victory, and the Norse coasted past the Rangers in the following two games. Sara Taylor recorded a double-double with 47 assists and 14 digs, while teammate Lynne Fischesser added 14 digs and a pair of service aces. The Norse hit .273 and held Wisconsin-Parkside to just a .120 hitting percentage. Jeni Bradley led Wisconsin-Parkside with 18 kills. NKU is ranked No. 3 in the latest NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region ratings. The top six teams in that poll will advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament in November. NKU hits the road next weekend for a non-conference match at the University of Illinois-Springfield at 8 p.m. Friday, followed by a 4 p.m. GLVC match against Quincy University on Saturday. |
