QUINCY, Ill. - Kristin Koralewski had 18 kills, 11 digs and a .394 hitting percentage Saturday as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Quincy University, 30-16, 30-17, 30-26. The Norse are in sole possession of first place in the GLVC standings and will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming GLVC Tournament if they win their two remaining matches. Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville - which entered the weekend in first place in the GLVC - lost at the University of Southern Indiana on Friday night to drop out of the overall lead in the GLVC. The Cougars are now 10-2 in the GLVC after defeating Kentucky Wesleyan College on Saturday. Nicole Salisbury collected 11 kills, 12 digs and finished with a .526 hitting percentage against Quincy, while Maggie Pugh added eight kills and a .500 hitting percentage. The Norse converted 61 of 119 attacks with just 11 errors for a .420 hitting percentage and coasted to the road victory. NKU setter Sara Taylor recorded 54 assists and eight digs, and teammate Kaliana Kalache added seven kills and four blocks. NKU is now 17-1 all-time against Quincy, which dropped to 17-9 overall, 8-4 in the GLVC. NKU will play host to Southern Indiana at 7 p.m. Friday, and the Norse will conclude the regular season at 1 p.m. Saturday against Kentucky Wesleyan. NKUs three seniors - Welter, Salisbury and Taylor - will be honored before the Southern Indiana match on Friday. If NKU defeats both Southern Indiana and Kentucky Wesleyan, the Norse will play host to the GLVC Tournament Nov. 13-15 in Regents Hall. NKU would play at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13 against the No. 8 seed in the first round of that event. |
