Norse outside hitter earns GLVC honor |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky Universitys Kristin Koralewski has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year in volleyball, the league announced Friday. Koralewski, a junior outside hitter and a native of Muskego, Wis., leads NKU in kills (506), digs (439) and hitting percentage (.341). She also ranks No. 3 in the GLVC in kills per game (4.29) and No. 4 in hitting percentage. In addition, Koralewski has notched 24 double-doubles this season and added 53 service aces going into the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament on Friday. NKU, currently 24-10 overall, will meet defending GLVC champion University of Southern Indiana in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. This marks the sixth time an NKU volleyball performer has earned GLVC Player of the Year honors. Lori King (1985), Kerry Lewin (1994 & 95), Jenny Jeremiah (1999) and Bethany Gastright (2001) are the other NKU players who have earned the award. NKU senior right-side hitter Cammi Welter earned first team All-GLVC honors. Welter, a graduate of McAuley High School in Cincinnati, has recorded 446 kills, 85 blocks and 49 service aces. This marks the second straight season that Welter has been named first team All-GLVC. Norse senior outside hitter Nicole Salisbury was named second team All-GLVC. Salisbury, a native of Ottawa Lake, Mich., is No. 3 on the team in kills (412) and No. 2 in digs (373). |
