Norse junior earns prestigious national honor from AVCA |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky Universitys Kristin Koralewski has been named first team NCAA Division II All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Koralewski, a junior outside hitter and a native of Muskego, Wis., finished the season with a team-leading 580 kills, 487 digs and a .328 hitting percentage as NKU posted a 26-12 record and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament. She was also named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year this season. Koralewski recorded 26 double-doubles this season and added 55 service aces. She was named the AVCA National Player of the Week in September and earned GLVC Player of the Week three times in 2003. Koralewski is just the second NKU volleyball player in history to receive first team All-America honors. Jessica Buroker also was named first team All-American in 1999. Molly Donovan (1998) and Jenny Jeremiah (1999) each received second team All-America honors for the Norse. NKU senior right-side hitter Cammi Welter received honorable mention All-America accolades from the AVCA. Welter, a graduate of McAuley High School in Cincinnati, finished with 503 kills and 101 blocks this season. |
