HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University womens tennis team will open the season at 3 p.m. Friday with a home match against Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. NKU has not lost to a GLVC foe since Oct. 11, 1997, when Lewis University posted a 5-4 win against the Norse during the GLVC Championships. NKUs top returning player is junior Elizabeth Brunsman, who earned All-GLVC honors last season. Brunsman posted a 9-0 record in No. 3 singles in the GLVC, and she was 15-9 overall. Sophomore Lindsay England was 9-0 in the GLVC last year and 14-8 overall. In addition to playing SIUE on Friday, the Norse will also host Saturday matches against Quincy University (9 a.m.) and the University of Missouri-St. Louis (1 p.m.). |
