NKU DEFEATS GVSU, 5-0

Norse women to meet Northwood in regional finals

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Northern Kentucky University women’s tennis team defeated Grand Valley State University, 5-0, in the first round of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region Tournament on Friday.

Elizabeth Brunsman won at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Norse, who improved to 20-3. NKU won all three doubles matches to take control, and Brunsman and Jessica Smith wrapped up the contest with victories during singles competition.

NKU will meet Northwood (Mich.) University on Saturday for the Great Lakes Region title. The champion will advance to the NCAA II national finals May 11-16, at the Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

3. Kari Goodrich/Jessica Smith (NKU) def. Kim VanSprange/Natalie Pallett, 8-4.
