NKU TO HOST NORTH DAKOTA STATE IN NCAAs
Norse (20-2) to play NDSU (14-2-2) at noon on Saturday in NCAA 1st round
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University womens soccer team has been selected to participate in the NCAA Division II Tournament, and the Norse will play host to North Dakota State University at noon this Saturday (Nov. 13) at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky.
NKU, which enters the NCAA Tournament with a 20-2 record, is the No. 1 seed in the Central Region. The Norse won their second consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championship on Sunday with a 2-0 victory against Southern Illinois at Edwardsville.
NKU, in just its third season of competing as a varsity program in womens soccer, is making its first trip to the NCAA Division II Tournament. A year ago, the Norse won the GLVC Tournament title but were left out of the NCAA Division II Tournament.
North Dakota State enters the NCAA Division II Tournament with a record of 14-2-2. The Bison, from Fargo, N.D., were 3-1 against GLVC teams this season. North Dakota State defeated Quincy, Indianapolis and Lewis, and the Bison lost at Saint Josephs.
NKU has never met North Dakota State in womens soccer.
A total of 16 teams, two from each of the eight regions, were selected for the NCAA Division II Tournament.
