LIGHT EARNS GLVC WEEKLY HONOR

Norse freshman named GLVC co-Player of the Week

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Jayme Light has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference co-Player of the Week in women’s soccer.

Light, a freshman and a graduate of Colerain High School, scored two goals last Sunday to lead NKU to a 3-0 win against Saint Joseph’s College. Light’s first collegiate goal gave NKU a 2-0 lead in the first half.

Light added her second goal 11 minutes into the second half on a header off a cross from Jeanna Goettelman. NKU improved to 5-2 with the victory and extended its unbeaten streak against GLVC opponents to 59 consecutive matches.

NKU is now 53-0-6 against GLVC teams during the past five years. The Norse have not lost to a GLVC opponent since Oct. 9, 1999, when Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville posted a 3-1 win over NKU.

Light shared the honor with SIUE’s Ann Crawford.

NKU will play road matches at Quincy University and SIUE this weekend.
