LAW EARNS GLVC WEEKLY HONOR

Norse sophomore named GLVC Player of the Week

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Amy Law has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in women’s soccer.

Law, a sophomore forward/midfielder and a graduate of Glen Este High School, scored two game-winning goals last week as NKU opened the season with a pair of victories. She began by scoring a goal 19 minutes into the first half Friday to lead the Norse to a 3-0 win over Concord (W. Va.) University.

On Sunday, Law’s goal snapped a 1-1 tie with less than three minutes remaining in regulation as NKU posted a 3-1 victory over the University of Findlay. The Norse, ranked No. 7 nationally in the Division II preseason poll, improved to 2-0 with that win.

Last season, Law was named the GLVC’s Freshman of the Year after scoring eight goals and collecting five assists. She now has 10 career goals at NKU, which will play host to Tusculum (Tenn.) College at 8 p.m. Friday in the John Toebben Classic at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky.

Tusculum is ranked No. 8 nationally in the Division II preseason poll, and the Pioneers own a 2-0 record going into the showdown with NKU on Friday night.
