NKU remains unbeaten (9-0) with road win |

QUINCY, Ill. - Stephanie Sandfoss, Carey Hebbeler, Bessie Black and Laurel Chalk all scored goals Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens soccer team - ranked No. 1 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll - defeated Quincy University, 4-0. Megan Zalla, Sam Westerling and Jennie Ulrey combined for the shutout for NKU, which improved to 9-0 overall, 3-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Quincy dropped to 5-3 overall, 2-1 in the GLVC. Sandfoss, who earned GLVC co-Player of the Week honors this past Tuesday, started the NKU scoring Friday with a goal off an assist from Aisling Callaghan at the 21:38 mark. Black and Hebbeler added goals early in the second half to give the Norse a 3-0 lead, and Chalk capped the NKU scoring with a goal at the 67:02 mark that was assisted by Black. NKU attempted 23 shots, compared to just four by Quincy. NKU is now 32-0-2 in its last 34 matches against GLVC teams. The Norse have not lost to a GLVC opponent since Oct. 9, 1999, when Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville posted a 3-1 win over NKU. NKU will face SIUE at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Edwardsville, Ill. |
