Lies scores in overtime as 10th-ranked NKU defeats Quincy, 1-0 |

QUINCY, Ill. - Kristen Lies drilled a 15-yard kick into the net in the second overtime Friday night to give the Northern Kentucky University womens soccer team a 1-0 victory against Quincy University. Lies shot beat Quincy goalie Lindsay Ringkamp at the 101:15 mark and allowed NKU to extend its unbeaten streak against Great Lakes Valley Conference opponents to 60 consecutive matches. NKU is now 54-0-6 against GLVC teams during the past five years. The Norse have not lost to a GLVC opponent since Oct. 9, 1999, when Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville posted a 3-1 win over NKU. NKU goalie Lauren Piening notched the shutout and recorded two saves. NKU (6-2 overall, 3-0 GLVC) owned a 13-11 edge in shot attempts. NKU, ranked 10th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, upped its lead in the all-time series against Quincy to 8-1-1. The Hawks (2-2-3 overall, 1-1-1 GLVC) have not beaten NKU since 1997. NKU will visit SIUE at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. |
