WILDER, Ky. - Kristen Noakes and Aisling Callaghan scored second-half goals Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens soccer team defeated the University of Southern Indiana, 3-1, at the Town & Country Sports Complex. Noakes snapped a 1-1 tie at the 65:23 mark with a goal that was assisted by both Bessie Black and Becky Schnieders. Callaghan sealed the win for NKU in the final two minutes by finding the net after a corner kick by Carey Hebbeler. Black had two assists as NKU - now 7-0 and ranked No. 1 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll - won its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener. USI dropped to 4-3 overall, 0-1 in the GLVC. NKU will play host to the University of Missouri-St. Louis at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. |
