Hanck scores two goals as 24th-ranked Norse roll |

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Katie Hanck scored two goals and added an assist Sunday to lead the Northern Kentucky University womens soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College. Kristen Votapek scored a goal and also had an assist as NKU upped its record to 10-3 overall, 7-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Lauren Piening picked up her ninth shutout of the season and finished with two saves for the Norse, who are ranked 24th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll. Jeanna Goettelman gave NKU a 1-0 lead at the 23:25 mark when she finished off a shot that was assisted by Hanck and Amy Martini. The Norse extended the advantage to 2-0 two minutes later when Hanck scored a goal off an assist from Votapek. Votapek and Hanck each added goals in the second half as NKU rolled to its fourth straight victory. The Norse finished with 19-4 advantage in shot attempts and remained unbeaten (8-0) in the all-time series with Kentucky Wesleyan. Hanck now has four goals and six assists this fall. Votapek has five goals and four assists. NKU will play at the University of Indianapolis at 2:30 p.m. Friday. |
