LAW NAMED GLVC FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR

Sheehan tabbed GLVC co-Coach of the Year

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University women’s soccer player Amy Law has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Freshman of the Year by the league coaches.

Law, a 2003 graduate of Glen Este High School, has scored eight goals and added five assists for NKU this fall. She was also named second team All-GLVC.

Four NKU players - Robyn Withers, Becky Schnieders, Kendra Zinser and Katie Hanck - were named first team All-GLVC. Withers, a junior sweeper and a graduate of Seton High School in Cincinnati, is the leader of a defense that owns 10 shutouts this season.

Schnieders, also a graduate of Seton High School, is a senior back and a two-time All-GLVC selection. Zinser, a senior forward and a graduate of Mercy High School in Cincinnati, is NKU’s leading scorer with nine goals and seven assists.

Hanck, a sophomore midfielder and a graduate of Fairfield (Ohio) High School, has twice been named GLVC Player of the Week this season. She also has seven goals and seven assists for the Norse, who enter the NCAA Division II Tournament with a 16-2-3 record.

NKU’s Bob Sheehan was named GLVC co-Coach of the Year, sharing the honor with the University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s Troy Fabiano. This marks the fifth time in seven years that Sheehan has earned the honor.
