Bellish shoots 73 to lead Norse at GLVC Championships

FORSYTH, Ill. - The Northern Kentucky University women’s golf team finished with a score of 307 during the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships on Sunday, and the second-place Norse trail leader University of Southern Indiana (300) by seven strokes going into Monday’s final round.

NKU golfer Michelle Bellish shot a 73 and is in second place individually at the par-72 Hickory Point Golf Course. The Norse’s Kim Keyer-Scott finished with a 76 in the first round and is tied for fourth place in the individual competition.

Keyer-Scott won the medal at last year’s GLVC Championships with a two-day total of 147 at Timbergate Golf Course in Edinburgh, Ind. NKU, which captured the GLVC title in 2002, finished in fourth place last season.

Alisha Luigs of Southern Indiana shot a 69 on Sunday and leads the individual competition. Sunday’s first round was delayed 90 minutes due to frost.
