NKU golfer posts fifth-place finish at NCAA nationals

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Northern Kentucky University women’s golfer Kim Keyer-Scott shot a 7-over-par 80 in the final round of the NCAA Division II national championships on Saturday, and she completed the four-day tournament by taking fifth place in the individual competition with a total of 310 (+18).

Keyer-Scott, a sophomore and a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, actually led after two rounds of the NCAA Division II national championships by shooting 74-77 during the first two days at the par-73 El Campeon Golf Course. She completed the event with scores of 79-80 the past two days and settled for fifth place nationally - the best individual finish in the history of NKU women’s golf.

Charlotte Campbell of Rollins College fired a 2-under-par 71 Saturday and captured the medal with a four-round total of 299 (+7). Her four-round total of 299 (78-74-76-71) also established an NCAA Division II record for the lowest total by the individual champion.

Campbell’s performance helped Rollins capture the NCAA Division II national championship by 39 strokes over runner-up Florida Southern College.

A year ago, Keyer-Scott helped NKU to a third-place finish at the national championships. She finished in 15th place individually with a four-round total of 329 (+37) at the Meadows Golf Club in Allendale, Mich.
