HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Northern Kentucky University womens golfer Kim Keyer-Scott fired a 4-over-par 77 Thursday to remain atop the leader board after two rounds of the NCAA Division II national championships. Keyer-Scott, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, has a two-day total of 151 (+5) at the par-73 El Campeon Golf Course. The sophomore golfer owns a one-stroke lead over the Rollins College duo of Freddie Seeholzer and Charlotte Campbell, who each shot 74 on Thursday to close within one stroke of Keyer-Scott. Seeholzer and Campbell each own two-round totals of 152 (+6). Rollins (+38) leads the team standings by 29 strokes over three-time defending national champion Florida Southern College (+67). Keyer-Scott, who qualified for the NCAA Division II national championships as an individual, is looking to become the first NKU golfer to win a national title. The 72-hole competition will continue through Saturday. Keyer-Scott entered the national championships with a stroke average of 78.6 this season, and she has captured medals at both the Anderson (S.C.) Invitational and the Kiawah Island Invitational. She also earned All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors in the fall after leading NKU to its first-ever GLVC title. A year ago, Keyer-Scott helped NKU to a third-place finish at the national championships. She finished in 15th place individually with a four-round total of 329 (+37) at the Meadows Golf Club in Allendale, Mich. |
