NKU GOLFERS TO HOST TOURNAMENT

Norse prepare for strong field at Perry Park in NKU Spring Fling event

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University women’s golf team will play host to the inaugural NKU Spring Fling this weekend at Perry Park, Ky.

The tournament will feature 18 teams, including eight squads that are nationally ranked. The event will be played at the par-72 Perry Park Resort, with tee times at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

NKU enters the tournament ranked No. 14 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll. Five other schools - fifth-ranked Grand Valley State University, 15th-ranked University of Southern Indiana, 18th-ranked University of Indianapolis, 20th-ranked Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and 25th-ranked Quincy University - are also in the Division II top 25 poll.

Also in the tournament field is DePauw (Ind.) University, which is ranked No. 1 nationally in the NCAA Division III poll. Brescia University is No. 7 in the NAIA national poll.

Division I schools such as the University of Cincinnati, Oakland (Mich.) University and the University of Dayton will also participate in the tournament.

NKU features two-time All-American Kim Keyer-Scott, who captured medalist honors at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships last fall. Keyer-Scott, a junior and a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, led after two rounds of the NCAA Division II national championships last spring at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., by shooting 74-77 during the first two days of that event.

She finished in fifth place nationally at that event - the best individual finish in the history of NKU women’s golf.
