NKU in fourth place after first round at Kiawah Island |

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Tanner Trumbo carded an opening-round 75 to pace Central Arkansas to the first-round lead of the 2005 Tusculum College/Kiawah Island Womens Intercollegiate on Saturday. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at Cougar Point Golf Club. Central Arkansas, ranked eighth in NCAA Division II (Golfstat head-to-head standings), shot 311 and holds a 13-stroke advantage over defending champion West Florida (No. 4 in NCAA II). Trumbo is in a three-way tie for the individual lead. Joining her at 75 are Carlie Gordon of Lenoir-Rhyne and West Floridas Clara Fornella, who captured medalist honors at last years event. Central Arkansas placed four golfers in the top 15. Kim Keyer-Scott of Northern Kentucky University fired a 78 in the opening round and is one of four players in a log-jam for fifth place. Christina Lecuyer of Central Arkansas and the Pfeiffer duo of Nikki Taggart and Fiona Hindshaw are also at 78. Nova Southeastern is third in the team competition at 332, while NKU is fourth with 333. Pfeiffer and Grand Valley State are tied for fifth with 335, while Lenoir-Rhyne and the Savannah College of Art and Design carded 341 and are tied for seventh. The 17-team, 88-participant field will play the final round on Sunday.
