Norse senior receives Athlete of Distinction Award |
|
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University womens basketball player Kristin Polosky has been selected as the recipient of the 2003 Margery Rouse Athlete of Distinction Award. The Margery Rouse Athlete of Distinction Award is given annually to a female student-athlete who best exemplifies the student-athlete concept through dedication, effort, ability, leadership and unselfishness and have given the most of themselves to intercollegiate athletics at NKU. In addition, the award is based on academic excellence, athletic ability and achievement, character and leadership and an active involvement in the community. Polosky, a native of Bobtown, Pa., led NKU to three appearances in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight during her career. Polosky also helped NKU forge a 109-22 record during her four years, and she played a major role on the Norses 2000 NCAA Division II national championship team. Polosky averaged 9.5 points and 5.1 rebounds last season as the Norse posted a 26-8 record and advanced to the NCAA Division II national championship game for the second time in four years. Polosky also blocked a team-leading 49 shots as a senior and ranked No. 1 on the squad with 142 assists. Polosky was named honorable mention All-Great Lakes Valley Conference this past season after ranking No. 2 in the league in blocked shots (1.44 bpg). She finished her career at NKU with 948 points. In addition, Polosky earned Academic All-GLVC honors four times in her career. |
