HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University womens basketball team has been picked as the preseason favorite to repeat as the NCAA Division II national champion in 2000-01 by Division II Bulletin. NKU is ranked No. 1 nationally in the preseason issue of Division II Bulletin. The Norse return all five starters from last seasons 32-2 team that captured the schools first-ever national championship. NKU enters the 2000-01 season with the nations longest winning streak (24 straight victories), and the Norse feature junior All-American forward Michelle Cottrell (17.3 points, 9.4 rebounds per game last season).
