NKU KNOCKS OFF LEWIS, 81-76

Cottrell scores 25 points to lead Norse

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Sophomore forward Michelle Cottrell scored 25 points Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team defeated Lewis University, 81-76, in Regents Hall.

Cottrell’s 25 points helped NKU offset a 40-point performance by Lewis’ Carey Jewell, who tied a Great Lakes Valley Conference record by making nine three-point shots on Saturday.

Junior guard Heather Livingstone added 18 points for NKU, which is now 17-2 overall, 12-1 in the GLVC. The Norse are ranked No. 6 nationally in the WBCA Division II poll.
