NKU WINS PERKINS CLASSIC CHAMPIONSHIP
Norse knock off Lake Superior State, 66-49
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Junior guard Heather Livingstone scored 21 points Saturday night as the Northern Kentucky University womens basketball team defeated Lake Superior State University, 66-49, in the championship game of the Perkins/NKU Classic in Regents Hall.
Livingstone scored eight consecutive points - including a pair of three-point shots - during the first five minutes of the second half as NKU (6-0) took control of the game. The Norse limited LSSU (7-3) to just 26.7 percent shooting from the field in the second half to capture the Perkins/NKU Classic for the second straight year.
Junior guard Michele Tuchfarber added 16 points for NKU, and Michelle Cottrell had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman forward Amy Mobley also grabbed 10 rebounds for the Norse, who won the battle of the boards by a 42-27 margin.
NKUs next game will be on Dec. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Regents Hall against Kentucky State University.
