Norse to play three home matches this week |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team will play host to Georgetown (Ky.) College at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in Regents Hall. NKU is 6-6 overall after rallying to defeat Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, 22-30, 30-20, 26-30, 30-11, 15-13, Saturday afternoon in Edwardsville, Ill. The Norse - winners of three straight - are 4-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. In addition to Georgetown, NKU will also play host to the University of Indianapolis at 7 p.m. Friday and Saint Josephs College at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Norse will play host to the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/GLVC Crossover Tournament the following weekend (Oct. 11-12) in Regents Hall. NKU AGAINST GEORGETOWN: NKU owns a 20-5 lead in the all-time series with Georgetown, a member of the NAIA. A year ago, the Norse defeated the Tigers twice (3-1 at Georgetown, and 3-0 at NKU). SUPER SALISBURY: Junior outside hitter Nicole Salisbury recorded 27 kills and a .316 hitting percentage Saturday afternoon to lead NKU past SIUE. Salisbury also had 10 digs to notch her second straight double-double. For the season, Salisbury leads NKU in kills (170) and digs (130). She is also No. 2 in hitting percentage at .298. KORALEWSKI GETS DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Sophomore outside hitter Kristin Koralewski finished with 19 kills, 14 digs and a .375 hitting percentage against SIUE. Koralewski - who has double-doubles in three of her last four matches - is No. 3 on the team with 127 kills, and she is No. 2 with 109 digs. SETTING THEM UP: Junior setter Sara Taylor recorded a double-double with 63 assists and 12 digs against SIUE. Taylor leads NKU in assists (13.14 apg) and is No. 2 in service aces with 16. FISCHESSER ON TARGET: Freshman middle hitter Lynne Fischesser had a career-high five service aces Saturday against SIUE. NKU KEEPS ON ROLLING: Since 1997, NKU is now 77-6 against GLVC opponents in regular-season competition. |
