EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Nicole Salisbury recorded 27 kills and a .316 hitting percentage Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team rallied to defeat Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, 22-30, 30-20, 26-30, 30-11, 15-13.
Salisbury also had 10 digs as NKU evened its overall record at 6-6. The Norse improved to 4-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and sent SIUE (12-4 overall, 2-1 GLVC) to its first conference loss.
It was the second straight double-double for Salisbury, a junior outside hitter and a transfer from Wayne (Mich.) State University.
Kristin Koralewski finished with 19 kills, 14 digs and a .375 hitting percentage for the Norse, while teammate Cammi Welter had 16 kills and 15 digs. Sara Taylor recorded a double-double with 63 assists and 12 digs.
Lynne Fischesser had a career-high five service aces for the Norse, who hit .346 in the fifth game to pull out the victory. Amber Timmons recorded 16 digs for NKU, which is now 13-1 all-time against SIUE.
Since 1997, NKU is now 77-6 against GLVC opponents in regular-season competition.
