HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Katie Gilman finished with 17 kills and a .395 hitting percentage Friday night as the Lewis University volleyball team defeated Northern Kentucky University, 30-28, 22-30, 33-31, 30-28, in Regents Hall. Lisa Paasch and Mary Corsten added 15 kills each for Lewis, which remained unbeaten (12-0, 1-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference). NKU - now 74-6 in the regular season against GLVC teams during the past five years - dropped to 3-6, 1-1 in the GLVC. Nicole Salisbury led NKU with 22 kills and a .405 hitting percentage. She also posted a team-high 22 digs. Sara Taylor led the Norse with 68 assists and also posted 17 digs. Cammi Welter and Kristin Koralewski both added 17 kills for the Norse. Maggie Pugh recorded 10 kills, six service aces and a .348 hitting percentage for NKU. The loss snapped a streak of 22 consecutive conference wins for NKU. It marked the first Norse loss to a GLVC opponent since Nov. 3, 2000, when Saint Josephs College rallied to defeat NKU, 9-15, 6-15, 15-13, 15-9, 15-10, at Rensselaer, Ind. NKU will play host to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 2 p.m. Saturday.
