HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Shaun McAllister recorded 14 kills, 12 digs and four service aces Friday night as the University of Indianapolis stunned Northern Kentucky University, 21-30, 30-24, 30-16, 30-22, in Regents Hall.
Emily Bristol added 13 kills and a .429 hitting percentage as Indianapolis defeated NKU for the first time in history. Going into Friday, NKU owned a 30-0 lead in the all-time series with the Greyhounds.
NKU (7-7 overall, 4-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference) used a 14-5 run to win the first game by a 30-21 score. Indianapolis was held to a .103 hitting percentage in that game, while the Norse hit .216.
The Greyhounds rallied, however, and took the final three games. Indianapolis recorded a .474 hitting percentage en route to a 30-16 win in the third game, and the Greyhounds (13-7 overall, 2-3 GLVC) controlled the fourth game to defeat NKU for the first time in history.
Cammi Welter led NKU with 19 kills, and Maggie Pugh added 12 kills, two service aces and a .310 hitting percentage. Sara Taylor recorded a double-double with 50 assists and 10 digs, while Nicole Salisbury added 10 kills and 13 digs.
The Norse will face Saint Joseph’s College at 2 p.m. Saturday in Regents Hall.
