Kalache, Koralewski lead Norse past Bellarmine |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Kaliana Kalache recorded 11 kills, five service aces and a .556 hitting percentage Tuesday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Bellarmine University, 30-16, 30-21, 30-11, in Regents Hall. Kristin Koralewski added a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs as NKU won its seventh consecutive match and improved to 14-7 overall. The Norse are now 8-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and in sole possession of first place in the league standings by one-half game over Lewis University (7-2 GLVC). Maggie Pugh, who was named GLVC Player of the Week Tuesday, had nine kills and a .692 hitting percentage for the Norse. Sara Taylor, who currently ranks No. 2 nationally in assists, picked up 33 assists and nine digs. Nicole Salisbury finished with nine kills for the Norse, while Cammi Welter added eight kills and two service aces. As a team, NKU hit .454 and limited Bellarmine to a .074 hitting percentage. NKU now leads the all-time series with Bellarmine, 45-8. The Knights dropped to 7-20 overall, 1-10 in the GLVC. The Norse will play a non-conference road match at the University of Findlay at 7 p.m. Wednesday. NKU will conclude its regular-season home schedule at 7 p.m. Friday when Quincy University visits Regents Hall. |
