RENSSELAER, Ind. - Maggie Pugh picked up 11 kills, six blocks and a .500 hitting percentage Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Saint Josephs College, 30-25, 30-16, 30-23. Kristin Koralewski added 11 kills and a .391 hitting percentage as the Norse improved to 20-8 overall, 11-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. NKU - which has now posted at least 20 victories in 10 consecutive years - leads the all-time series with Saint Josephs by a 22-5 count. Nicole Salisbury had nine kills and a .600 hitting percentage Friday, and Sara Taylor - who ranks No. 1 nationally in NCAA Division II in assists - finished with 42 assists. Cammi Welter added 11 kills and a .348 hitting percentage for the Norse, who hit .433 as a team. NKU has an outside shot at earning the No. 1 seed in the upcoming GLVC Tournament, but the Norse must win at the University of Indianapolis on Saturday and hope Lewis University loses to Quincy. If Lewis wins Saturday, NKU will get the No. 2 seed with a victory at Indianapolis. NKU will begin play at the GLVC Tournament on Nov. 14. The Norse will enter the GLVC Tournament as the five-time defending champion. The winner of the GLVC Tournament will receive an automatic berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament. |
