OWENSBORO, Ky. - Kaliana Kalache recorded 12 kills and a .364 hitting percentage Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Kentucky Wesleyan College, 30-27, 30-10, 30-18. Nicole Salisbury added seven kills and a .500 hitting percentage as the Norse won their 12th consecutive match and improved to 19-7 overall, 10-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Jessica Kassens finished with nine kills for NKU, which is now 83-7 against GLVC opponents in regular-season competition during the past six years. Sara Taylor, who is No. 1 nationally in assists in the latest NCAA Division II rankings, picked up 33 assists Friday. Taylor also had five kills and a .714 hitting percentage. The Norse will meet the University of Southern Indiana at 3 p.m. Saturday in Evansville, Ind. NKU holds a 28-5 advantage over Southern Indiana in the all-time series, and the Norse own 10 consecutive victories against the Lady Eagles. NKU is seeking its sixth consecutive GLVC championship. The Norse trail Lewis University (23-2 overall, 11-2 GLVC) by one-half game in the GLVC standings. After Saturday, the Norse will close out the regular season with road contests at Saint Josephs College (8 p.m. Nov. 8) and the University of Indianapolis (2 p.m. Nov. 9). |
