TAYLOR FINISHES NO. 1 IN NATION

NKU setter tops NCAA Division II in assists

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Sara Taylor has finished No. 1 nationally in assists in the NCAA Division II volleyball statistics.

Taylor, a junior setter and a graduate of Assumption High School in Louisville, Ky., averaged 13.82 assists per game to become the first NKU player to ever lead the nation in that category. She finished ahead of runner-up Greta Iisakka of the University of Minnesota-Duluth, who averaged 13.68 apg.

Taylor finished the season with 1,465 assists in 106 games played. She earned first team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors this season, and she also was selected AVCA All-Great Lakes Region.

Taylor also had 36 service aces and 258 digs this season as NKU posted a 22-10 record.

Taylor joins Kerry Lewin and Jenny Jeremiah as NKU volleyball players who have finished No. 1 nationally in an individual category. Lewin led the nation in service aces in both 1994 and 1995, while Jeremiah was No. 1 nationally in digs in 1999.
