SOUTHERN INDIANA UPSETS 3RD-RANKED NKU, 2-0

 

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Stephanie Minor and Kelly Lewis both scored goals in the final seven minutes of regulation Friday night as the University of Southern Indiana upset No. 3 Northern Kentucky University, 2-0, in an important Great Lakes Valley Conference women’s soccer match.

Minor’s goal at the 83:18 mark broke a 0-0 tie and gave USI a 1-0 lead. Lewis sealed the victory for the Eagles with less than two minutes remaining in the match with an unassisted goal.

NKU, which was ranked No. 3 in the NCAA Division II poll, dropped to 12-1 overall, 6-1 in the GLVC. USI is now 5-4 overall, 5-1 in the GLVC. NKU will travel to play Southern Illinois at Edwardsville at 7 p.m. Saturday night.
