NKU SOFTBALL TEAM TO MEET KSU |

Norse baseball team hosts Bluefield State on Wednesday |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University softball team will play host to Kentucky State University at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field. NKU is 16-6 after splitting a doubleheader at Marian College on Saturday. The Norse are 4-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Freshman Angie Lindeman leads NKU in hitting with a .437 batting average. Lindeman also has 21 runs batted in and seven doubles. Senior Krista Eldridge leads NKU with two home runs, and she also has 10 RBI. Senior Joanna Doerner is batting .388 with four doubles. Norse freshman pitcher Emily Breitholle is 9-2 with a 1.78 earned run average. Breitholle also has 37 strikeouts in 70.2 innings pitched. Senior pitcher Katie Garling is 5-2 with a 2.37 ERA. In addition to Kentucky State, NKU will also meet Campbellsville University at 3 p.m. Wednesday, and the Norse will close out the homestand Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against GLVC rival Kentucky Wesleyan College. BASEBALL TEAM TO MEET BLUEFIELD STATE The NKU baseball team will play host to Bluefield State University in a doubleheader that begins at noon on Wednesday at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex at Friendship Field. NKU is 12-15 overall after sweeping a three-game series with the University of Missouri-St. Louis over the weekend. The Norse completed the sweep Saturday with a 10-6 victory over the Rivermen. NKU is now 6-3 in the GLVC and tied for second place with Quincy (Ill.) University. NKU senior right-hander Lenny Bays hurled a three-hitter against Missouri-St. Louis last Friday and retired the final 18 batters during a 2-1 win against the Rivermen. Bays had six strikeouts in that game, and he finished the victory by striking out the side in the seventh inning. Bays, who improved to 3-2 with the victory, did not walk a batter and allowed just a first-inning run. NKU senior catcher Jason Martin hit his team-leading sixth home run Saturday, and senior outfielder/first baseman Steve Walton added four RBI in that game. Walton leads the team with 25 RBI. Sophomore second baseman Shaun Erie is hitting .383 and leads the Norse in batting average. His RBI single in the 10th inning Friday gave NKU a 3-2 win over Missouri-St. Louis in the nightcap of the doubleheader. GOLF TEAMS HOST KRUMP KUP The NKU mens and womens golf teams will play host to the Krump Kup Invitational this Wednesday at Boone Links Golf Course. The Krump Kup Invitational, sponsored by Montgomery Inn, will feature NKU, Xavier University, University of Cincinnati and University of Dayton. Play will begin at 8 a.m. MENS TENNIS TEAM TO HOST INDIANAPOLIS The NKU mens tennis team will play host to the University of Indianapolis at 3 p.m. Tuesday. The Norse are 1-1 in the GLVC.
