HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Emily Breitholle tossed a no-hitter Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University softball team defeated the University of Southern Indiana, 8-0, to complete a doubleheader sweep at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field. Stephanie Leimbach went 3-for-3 and scored twice for the Norse, while teammates Angie Lindeman and Megan Owens each added two runs batted in. NKU - now 20-9 overall, 9-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference - scored six runs in the second inning and coasted to the victory. Breitholle allowed just two walks en route to the victory, which was called after five innings due to the eight-run rule. Breitholle improved to 7-4 this season and recorded her team-leading sixth shutout. In the opener, freshman pitcher Krystal Lewallen hurled a four-hit shutout as NKU defeated Southern Indiana, 2-0. Lewallen also picked up 10 strikeouts for NKU, which has won 13 of its last 14 games. Lewallen upped her season record to 10-4, and she leads NKU with 108 strikeouts. She also has four shutouts this season. Kara Lorenz hit a run-scoring double in the second inning to key the NKU offense. Leimbach also added two hits for the Norse, who have won seven consecutive games. NKU will play host to the Kentucky Wesleyan College in a GLVC doubleheader at noon Sunday at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field.
