NKU SWEEPS TWO FROM BELLARMINE |

Norse improve to 18-9 with two wins |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Emily Breitholle tossed a four-hit shutout Thursday as the Northern Kentucky University softball team defeated Bellarmine University, 1-0, to complete a doubleheader sweep at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field. Megan Owens doubled in the games only run in the first inning for NKU (18-9 overall, 7-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference), which has won 11 of its last 12 games. Breitholle made the lone run stand up by tossing seven shutout innings and picking up her sixth victory of the season. In the opener, NKU scored four times in the sixth inning to rally past Bellarmine, 4-1. Kristin Koors two-run triple snapped a 1-1 tie and lifted NKU to the victory. Freshman pitcher Krystal Lewallen recorded 12 strikeouts and posted the victory for NKU. Lewallen is now 9-4 this season. NKU will play host to the University of Southern Indiana in a GLVC doubleheader at noon Saturday at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field.
