NKU SPLITS TWO GAMES ON SATURDAY
Norse defeat Saginaw Valley State, lose to Ashland
ALTON, Ill. - The Northern Kentucky University softball team split a pair of games Saturday at the GLVC/GLIAC Challenge. NKU defeated Saginaw Valley State, 6-1, in the first game, but the Norse dropped a 2-1 decision to Ashland in the second game.
Sophomore first baseman Krista Eldridge had two hits and four runs batted in during the victory against Saginaw Valley State. Freshman outfielder Jessica Trinkle added two hits and scored twice for the Norse. Junior pitcher Kim Bina allowed SVSU just three hits, struck out seven batters and picked up the victory for NKU.
In the second game, Ashland scored unearned runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to defeat NKU. The Norse are now 23-20.
