MOORE TOSSES NO-HITTER AT UMSL |

Norse sweep doubleheader on Saturday |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Senior pitcher Jamie Moore tossed a no-hitter Saturday as the Northern Kentucky University softball team defeated the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 4-0, in the first game of a doubleheader. NKU completed the sweep in the second game as senior pitcher Kim Bina hurled a two-hit shutout to lead the Norse to a 1-0 win. NKU improved to 15-13 overall, 3-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. In the opener, Moore had eight strikeouts en route to the no-hitter. Joanna Doerner had two hits and four runs batted in to lead the offense. In the second game, Bina had six strikeouts as NKU posted the win over Missouri-St. Louis (9-13, 2-4 GLVC). Amanda Davidson had the game-winning RBI for the Norse. NKU will play host to Quincy (Ill.) University in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Sunday. |
