HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University softball team swept a doubleheader from Lewis University on Saturday afternoon, taking the opener by a 6-0 score and completing the sweep with a 3-2 win in the nightcap at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field. NKU sophomore pitcher Krystal Lewallen picked up the wins in both games to improve to 12-1 this season. Lewallen hurled a six-hit shutout in the opener as the Norse rolled past the Flyers. Rachele Vogelpohl collected two hits and two runs batted in to lead the NKU attack, while Heather Cotner scored a pair of runs. In the second game, Lewallen came on in relief of starter Emily Breitholle and limited Lewis to just one hit in 4 2/3 innings to pick up the victory. Angie Lindemans two-run double in the third inning tied the score at 2-2, and Megan Owens followed with an RBI single to deliver the eventual winning run. Stephanie Leimbach added three hits in the second game for NKU, which is off to the best start in the history of the program. In the opener, Leimbach collected a pair of hits.
