Norse outfielder named GLVC Player of the Week

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Stephanie Leimbach has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in the softball, the league announced Tuesday.

Leimbach, a junior outfielder from Hilliard, Ohio, hit .727 (8-for-11), scored five runs and led her team to doubleheader sweeps over Lewis University and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside last weekend. Leimbach collected five hits in the sweep over Lewis on Saturday, then added three more hits and scored three runs Sunday afternoon as the Norse swept a doubleheader from Wisconsin-Parkside.

Leimbach is batting a team-leading .427 with four doubles and 18 runs scored. She also has 11 runs batted in this season.

NKU is off to a school-record 23-1 start, and the Norse are 4-0 in the GLVC. NKU, ranked No. 16 nationally in the Division II poll, is also seeking its third straight berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament.
