NKU SWEEPS TWO FROM IPFW

Norse improve to 23-17 with sweep

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Amanda Davidson’s run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth inning Friday afternoon broke a 2-2 tie and sparked the Northern Kentucky University softball team to a 6-2 win over Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne to complete a sweep of the doubleheader.

Katie Garling picked up the victory in relief for NKU, which improved to 23-17 overall, 11-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. NKU also won the opener, 6-0, as senior pitcher Kim Bina tossed a six-hit shutout.

Kerry McKee and Krista Eldridge both had two hits in the first game to lead the NKU offense. The Norse will play host to Saint Joseph’s College at 1 p.m. Saturday.
