TALENTED RECRUITS SIGN WITH NKU

NKU announces signings for next season

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The following individuals have signed national letters of intent to attend Northern Kentucky University and participate in the intercollegiate athletics program this fall. WOMEN’S TENNIS •Renae Wright, a 2003 graduate of Kapaun Mount Carmel Catholic High School in Wichita, Kan. Wright lettered four years in tennis and helped the Crusaders win two state championships. She finished third in the state in singles competition in 2002, and she won a state title in doubles in 2001. Wright was also inducted into the Kansas State Hall of Fame. •Becky Dister, a 2003 graduate of Brunswick (Ohio) High School. A native of Medina, Ohio, Dister was Brunswick’s most valuable player three times and advanced to the state tournament as a senior in singles competition. SOFTBALL •Megan Reed, a 2003 graduate of Boone County High School. Reed, an outfielder, led Boone County to regional championships in 2001 and 2002. Reed’s top prep statistics are a .409 batting average with 17 stolen bases and 31 runs batted in. •Rebecca Napier, a 2003 graduate of Dunbar High School in Lexington, Ky. A catcher, Napier led the Bulldogs to district championships in 2001 and 2002. BASEBALL •Nick D’ippolito, a 2003 graduate of Dublin Scioto High School. A native of Hilliard, Ohio, D’ippolito batted .543 and was named the team’s offensive most valuable player as a junior. He is also Dublin Scioto’s career leader in home runs. •Matt Marksbury, a 2003 graduate of Norwood High School. Marksbury, a pitcher/outfielder, is a four-time All-Fort Ancient Valley Conference selection. He was also twice named to the All-City Team. MEN’S GOLF •David Shearer, a 2003 graduate of Charlevoix (Mich.) High School. Shearer is a three-time All-State selection in Michigan, and he earned All-Lake Michigan Conference honors four straight years. He also holds school records for low scores for nine holes (32) and 18 holes (67). •Jonathan Ehlen, a 2003 graduate of Ryle High School. Ehlen earned six letters for the Raiders and is the only Ryle golfer to win a regional crown. He also won the 2001 Junior Amateur. WOMEN’S SOCCER •Amy Law, a 2003 graduate of Glen Este High School. Law, a 5-foot-4 forward/midfielder, helped Glen Este win the 2002 Fort Ancient Valley Conference championship. She was also named first team All-FAVC as a senior and ranked second in the FAVC in scoring.
