JEREMIAH LEADS NKU PAST NORTHERN MICHIGAN

 

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Senior outside hitter Jenny Jeremiah had 20 kills and 21 digs Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team defeated Northern Michigan University, 15-4, 15-10, 15-12, in a battle of teams ranked in the NCAA Division II Top 25 poll.

Junior middle hitter Jessica Buroker and sophomore outside hitter Bethany Gastright both added nine kills as NKU, ranked No. 4 in the nation, improved to 21-1 overall. Northern Michigan, which dropped to 18-6 with the loss, was led by Meirong Lu’s eight kills and 18 digs. The victory extended NKU’s homecourt winning streak to 26 consecutive matches, which dates back to 1997.

NKU will be in action again next Friday night (Oct. 22) on the road with an 8 p.m. match at Quincy (Ill.). The Norse will also visit Missouri-St. Louis at 3 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 23).
