NKU LOOKS TO DEFEND GLVC TITLE |

Norse men enter GLVC Championships as No. 1 seed |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University mens tennis team will be the No. 1 seed at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships this week, and the Norse will begin that event Friday with a first-round match against eighth-seeded Quincy University at Indianapolis, Ind. NKU extended its GLVC win streak to 21 Saturday with a 9-0 victory against Bellarmine University. The Norse are 13-3 overall and will play a road match at Morehead State on Monday. The Norse - who finished unbeaten against GLVC teams for the second straight regular season - are seeking to repeat as GLVC champions. NKU is ranked 37th in the NCAA Division II national poll. The Norse have not lost to a GLVC opponent since April 19, 2002, when the University of Missouri-St. Louis posted a 5-3 win over NKU at the GLVC Championships. NKUs Oliver Marinkovic is 15-1 at singles competition this season. The Norses Amine Benjelloun is 10-5 in singles play, while teammate Marek Pawelec owns a 12-3 record.
