NKU advances in NCAA Tournament |

MIDLAND, Mich. - Billy Hopkins posted victories at No. 5 singles and No. 1 doubles Friday to lead the Northern Kentucky University mens tennis team to a 5-1 win over the University of Southern Indiana at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region Tournament. Hopkins and Amine Benjelloun teamed for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles for NKU, which upped its record to 18-4. Hopkins later claimed a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Kyle Taylor at No. 5 singles. It marked the third time this season NKU defeated Southern Indiana. It was also the second straight year that the Norse have eliminated the Screaming Eagles from the NCAA Tournament. NKU will meet Northwood (Mich.) University on Saturday for the Great Lakes Region championship. The winner will advance to the NCAA II national finals May 11-16, at the Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
