HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University mens soccer team, now 2-7 overall, 2-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, will play host to Bellarmine University at 6 p.m. Friday night at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder. NKU won its second consecutive match last Sunday with a 2-0 victory over the University of Indianapolis. The Norse received goals from Tony Becker and Aaron Pitzer on Sunday, and senior goalie Justin Wesling recorded the shutout for NKU. Sophomore Jeff Anderson scored two goals and had a school-record four assists last Friday afternoon as NKU defeated Kentucky Wesleyan College, 7-1. Sophomore Mohamed Janah added a pair of goals as NKU won for the first time this season. NKU built a 2-0 halftime lead as Janah and Tony Becker scored goals off assists from Anderson. Anderson scored two goals and added two assists in the second half to break the previous NKU single-match record of three assists, which had been held by both Chad Scott and Mark Finnigan. Anderson now has scored three goals and he leads the Norse with five assists. Janah has four goals and has added three assists. Bellarmine owns a 3-5 overall record, and the Knights are 0-4 in the GLVC. A year ago, Bellarmine defeated NKU, 1-0, in Louisville, Ky. |
