NKU TO HOST USI ON FRIDAY |

Norse own four consecutive victories going into Friday |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University mens soccer team will play host to the University of Southern Indiana at 6 p.m. this Friday night at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder. NKU will also play host to Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder. NKU has won four consecutive matches going into Friday night after a 3-2 victory at the University of Missouri-Rolla last Sunday. The Norse are now 4-7 overall, 3-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Kevin Crones goal with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation gave NKU the victory over 18th-ranked Missouri-Rolla on Sunday. Jeff Anderson scored a pair of goals to lead NKU. Anderson now has five goals and five assists this season. Mohamed Janah, who scored both goals during the Norses 2-0 win against Bellarmine University last Friday night, has six goals and three assists this season. NKU goalie Jimmy Dwertman recorded the shutout against Bellarmine on Friday and now owns a 2.58 goals against average. NKU has now played three teams - No. 2 Wheeling Jesuit, No. 19 West Virginia Wesleyan and No. 25 Truman State - currently in the Division II Top 25 poll. Missouri-Rolla dropped out of the national rankings after the loss to NKU. The Norse will also face No. 8 Lewis University and No. 18 University of Wisconsin-Parkside later this season. Southern Indiana enters Fridays match with a record of 4-5-1 overall, 3-2-1 in the GLVC. SIUE is 6-5-1 overall, 4-2 in the GLVC. AGAINST USI: A year ago, Jeff Anderson scored a goal and added an assist as NKU defeated Southern Indiana, 3-2, at Evansville, Ind. Adam Gregory and Joe Resing also added goals for the Norse, who led 2-1 at halftime. Southern Indiana leads the all-time series with NKU, 12-4-2. AGAINST SIUE: Last season, Justin McMillian, Ryan Stoddart and Brad Kroenig all scored first-half goals as SIUE defeated NKU, 3-1, at Edwardsville, Ill. SIUE leads the all-time series with NKU, 3-1. |
